How to create colourful Christmas table decorations

Decorating the Christmas table and creating a beautiful centre-piece is definitely one of my favourite parts of the festive season.  A mixture of holly and berries always looks pretty and colourful in the middle of the table – whether bunched together in a vase or as part of a pretty floral arrangement. Modern homes favour extra touches such as presents, decorative napkin rings or cute place cards. Check out my favourite ideas for some Christmas table inspiration..

Fill an old jug with holly, branches from the garden and extra bits of foliage to create a beautiful country table decoration. Add red napkins and a hanging wreath filled with berries for extra colour.

The easiest way to create a traditional look is to buy some floral foam from your local florist and mix holly, pine cones and red berries together. Add a candle to the middle of the decoration by placing a candle holder into the foam centerpiece.

Decorate the table with loose bits of holly and add coloured glass ornaments and tea lights for a rustic, homely feel.

For modern homes, decorate the table with presents for each person. You can either place it on the seat or, for added colour, rest it on top of your guest’s plate!
